Prep roundup: Rams nip Generals, advance to playoffs

SNELLVILLE - Jake Bova pitched a complete game and Grayson earned a 3-2 win over Shiloh on Friday to advance to the state baseball playoffs.

Bova (3-4) gave up four hits, two runs and struck out six batters.

Dylan Swords was 1-for-3 with a run and Shaun Harrison went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Rams (12-14).

Josh Carr pitched for Shiloh and gave up two earned runs while pitching his sixth consecutive complete game.

BASEBALL

Brookwood 3, South 0

SNELLVILLE - Alex Beebe (7-0) got the win for Brookwood as the Broncos shut out South Gwinnett 3-0 on Friday in the regular-season finale.

Ronnie Freeman was 2-for-3, while Ross Heffley, Chase Hawkins and Buddy Jones were each 1-for-3 for Brookwood (24-1, 12-0).

Berkmar 6, Central 5

LILBURN - Berkmar finished the season with a nine-inning, 6-5 win over Central Gwinnett on Friday.

Jake Hendricks pitched the complete game and gave up nine hits, three walks and struck out five. Offensively, Hendricks had a double.

Kareem Hayes had a double, an RBI and scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth on a wild pitch for Berkmar.

Carter Owens drove in the run with a single and Adam Webster had an RBI for the Patriots (6-20).

Luella 19, North 18

SUWANEE - North Gwinnett lost 19-18 to Luella on Friday night.

Luella scored 11 runs in the first, but North Gwinnett came back to lead 16-14 in the third before falling.

Tommy Abrahamson (2-2) got the loss after pitching an inning and giving up three earned runs.

Luke Strickland was 2-for-5 with two home runs and six RBIs. Nick Jones was 2-for-5 with three RBIs and a home run. Nick McCouch was 3-for-5 with a home run and an RBI. Will Huff was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Ronnie Stewart finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs for North Gwinnett (17-9).

Social Circle 4, Hebron 3

SOCIAL CIRCLE - Hebron Christian fell to Social Circle 4-3 in its last game of the season on Friday.

Jamie Holt pitched 51⁄3 innings and gave up five hits and struck out four. Kevin Burgee (1-1-3) got the loss after pitching 11⁄3 innings after giving up a hit and striking out one batter.

Bobby Cole was 2-for-2 with a stolen base and a double and Jesse Myrick was 1-for-2 with an RBI for Hebron (14-9).
